This is a NEW position. The Tissue Donation and Family Advocate is passionate about improving lives through tissue donation. By phone, the DFA offers support to a grieving family and ensures that the family understands tissue donation fully. The DFA has the best possible conversation about donation, obtains consent, and conducts the medical/social history questionnaire. S/he must be knowledgeable about tissue donation, grief work and overall family support and have excellent telephone communication skills. The Tissue DFA is a member of the Donor Family and Advocate team and works closely with Triage Coordinators and Communications Center Staff in the Tissue Department to ensure a seamless process from the family to the clinicians. The Tissue DFA is skilled at using language as the primary way to build rapport and trust with families.
