The gift of cornea donation improves or restores sight for individuals who have suffered eye trauma or disease. The cornea is the clear, dome-shaped covering over the front of the eye that allows light to reach the retina, providing sight. Corneas are evaluated for cell count and clarity. Each cornea donor has the potential to give sight to two people.
