Lisa Pettit, Registered Donor

I decided to be a registered donor in hopes that whatever my body can donate, can help a family in need. Whether to save a life, help a living person and/or for research.

In 2007, I gave birth to a preemie baby. She weighed 1 pound 11 ounces. She was in the NICU at St. Joseph’s for two months. During that time, we saw precious lives come and go. We saw life lost and families heartbroken. Today our daughter is thriving, and we are grateful.

In 2011, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. I went through many surgeries, chemo, radiation, etc. Today, I am still here and feel incredibly blessed and grateful for that.

It is truly my hope that when my time comes to an end that anything left can benefit someone else. I hope others see the benefit in this selfless gift to help others and encourage them to also consider donating.
