Patrick Ryan, Recipient

Being able to focus your eyes together and see with your eyes is something many people take for granted! When I start to do that I remember what it was like before I had a cornea transplant in 1989. For the first 34 years of my life, focusing my eyes together and having any depth perception was not at all simple. Normally it was very difficult. I could name a number of things that were impossible to do with any precision: making a shot with a basketball, catching a baseball, playing golf, seeing the lights on a street at night properly, and others.
