It starts with ONE …

Through September, 247 Arizonans gave the gift of life this year. Thanks to the generosity of those donors and their families, 620 recipients have been given a second chance. All of this starts with just one person. ONE nurse who calls DNA to report a change in patient status. ONE respiratory therapist who monitors vent settings to ensure proper oxygenation. ONE physician who patiently explains brain death to a struggling family. ONE chaplain who holds a family’s hand. ONE registered donor or ONE donor family who says yes.

During Focus on the ONE, we will explore the impact of caring for patients and families at the end of life and how that care can ultimately save and heal lives through donation and transplantation. The actions we take are reflected in each new day for a transplant recipient and the peace and hope donation can bring a donor family.
